"Every design, whether a home, arrangement, or celebration begins with a center point, a center-piece to be inspired by"
“The thought of styling flowers has always been a constant dream. Even as a young girl, I was intrigued and amazed by wildflowers and their natural beauty. Now, in my late twenties I still find myself pulling off the side of the Blue Ridge Parkway, grab my clippers just to bring some mountain gold back home with me” (Hannah, director of CP Floral Studio).
Whether a wedding, party or private event she would always volunteer the task of floral arrangements & styling to her friends and family. It wasn’t until her own wedding when she realized turning it into a career was the best idea she had in a while.
Hannah studied Agriculture in college at Clemson University, with a minor in Horticulture and quickly developed an appreciation for Floriculture and cut flowers. In the early stages, she worked behind a cut flower scientist at Floralife Inc., helping the experiment and development of various flower foods in cut flower nutrition.
She’s continuously inspired by the many talented and creative floral designers all throughout the US, though she owes her creative style to the nature found around her. “There’s something about the lush green hills in the Summer, filled with buds & bloom in the Spring, the color change in the Fall & the sky in the Winter. I’d like to offer just that in my designs, the intricacies of the bountiful nature, a natural and organic feel & vibe to each of my arrangements”.
Her mother, Julie Keyton-Dotson, owner and creator of Centerpiece Boutique & Design and Julie Keyton Interiors, shares a passion for designing and creating. When her home & clothing boutique opened in 2013, “Centerpiece” became the center of her career and heart. The boutique has become all things fun, fashionable and is a center for creative minds whether in your closet or in your home. Taking on many projects, she decided that CP Floral Studio was the perfect addition to the Centerpiece family.
Julie has tons of experience in the field of events, staging & interior design and knows that every successful moment begins with a vibrant centerpiece. “Every design, whether a home, arrangement, or celebration begins with a center point, a center piece to be inspired by”.
And with a piece of her connected to the ocean (fun fact: her middle name, named after the ocean), South Carolina has been a connection to her for a while now. With her daughter based originally in Charleston, and now the Upstate, they believed serving clients all throughout the East Coast would give them a chance to be together more all the while still connected to their home, favorite places & give them a chance to travel.
Julie knows all things business and style. She’s inventive, and a visionary all the while serving her small town of Southern Maryland with a gracious humble heart: the lead of the pack, and architect of Centerpiece’s future. Centerpiece Studio is the addition to a fun and ever evolving small business and both Hannah and Julie hope they can influence the creative world with this dream of theirs, one root at a time.
